Dear MyPE The Democratic Alliance (DA) notes with alarm that it is proposed that amongst the first groups of people to receive vaccinations for Covid 19 will be convicted prisoners. We trust that this proposal will not be accepted or implemented. It is acknowledged that prisons may be prime sites of the spread of the pandemic, on account of confinement and overcrowding. As such, custodial officials must be classified as front-line workers and qualify for vaccination, as and when this … [Read more...] about Convicted prisoners should not be given preferential treatment when rolling out Covid vaccine

UDM to remain in NMB Coalition
Dear MyPE The DA welcomes the apparent commitment from the Leader of the United Democratic Movement (UDM), Bantu Holomisa, that the UDM will remain in the Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) coalition. We are however concerned with his intention to approach a court to reverse the removal of Mr Bobani as Deputy Mayor. One of the main purposes of forming coalition governments, in NMB and elsewhere, was to make a distinct break from the previous ANC administrations, which were riddled with corruption … [Read more...] about UDM to remain in NMB Coalition
Holomisa urged to put the people of NMB first
Dear MyPE The DA notes with regret the so-called ultimatum from Mr Bantu Holomisa to pull the United Democratic Movement (UDM) out of the coalition government unless Mr Mongamelli Bobani is reinstated as the Deputy Mayor of the Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB)Municipality. The decision to move a motion of no confidence against the former deputy mayor of NMB, Mr Bobani, was not an easy one. Statement by James Selfe MP, Chairperson of the Federal Executive of the Democratic Alliance
Following media reports that appeared in Die Son, the Daily Dispatch, the Weekend Post and the Herald newspapers, I was asked by the Federal Leader of the Party, Mmusi Maimane MP, to investigate claims that: The list process in the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) had been manipulated in any way, so as to benefit certain candidates over others; and Mr Trollip had attempted to bribe Ms Nontuthuzelo Jack on Sunday 20 March, to "find dirt" on Ms Mvenya, and to be a witness in a … [Read more...] about Statement by James Selfe MP, Chairperson of the Federal Executive of the Democratic Alliance

The SABC is now compelled by the Court to institute the disciplinary proceedings as is ordered by the Public Protector.
