Intercity Bus Fire – Cape Road

Newton Park residents were greeted with clouds of black smoke this morning as an Intercity bus caught fire in the premises of Intercity on Cape Road near 1st Avenue. The fire brigade, EMS and variuous security companies responded quickly to contain the blaze. Neighbourhood WhatsApp groups were abuzz as concerned residents reported the smoke and fire with one speculating that it was a "bomb or something". At this stage the cause of the fire is unknown.
