The Meerensee Ski-Boat Club in Richard’s Bay is going through the same woes that started with the Algoa Bay Yacht Club. According to a report in their newsletter the MSBC were given an ultimatum to increase their monthly rental to over R50 000 a month, for twelve months, and then permanently vacate the property. Forgive me as I indulge myself on MyPE after a long battle with the TNPA - my 'friend 'AT' is probably squirming with delight at our misfortune but the outpouring of messages of support will, I think, vindicate the yacht club. After a long battle between the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) and the Algoa Bay Yacht Club (ABYC) which culminated in an eviction order application brought by TNPA againsts ABYC it appears that the ABYC have met the end of the road today. At the Bird Street High Court this morning the application for a stay of eviction by the 60 year old sailing club, ABYC, against the TNPA was dismissed with costs.
