Nearly 1 800 people died in accidents during the festive season, Transport Minister Dipuo Peters said on Tuesday. A total of 1 755 people lost their lives between December 1, 2015 and January 11 this year, she told reporters in Pretoria. 2014 Festive season death toll declines
The 2013/2014 festive season death toll on the country's roads has declined slightly, according to the preliminary reports released by the Department of Transport on Thursday. Preliminary figures released by Transport Minister Dipuo Peters show that from the period December 1, 2013 to January 7, 2014, there were 1 147 crashes with 1 376 fatalities. Hefty penalties will be the order of the day for retailers overcharging consumers on the price of LP Gas, said the Energy Department. This comes after media reports emerged that some retailers are overcharging the public on the price of LP Gas, which is capped.
