Census 2011 – We need more connectivity
For me the most distressing factoid in the recent Census 2011 numbers revolves around access to the internet. Out of the 1 687 385 households in the Eastern Cape a total of 1 280 642 have NO access to the internet (75.89%). Music to the ears of our political masters I am sure as the risk of a social media revolution is severely diminished. Reading through the numbers is a bit of an exercise in depression as the Western Cape, Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal outstrip the Eastern Cape in all the … [Read more...] about Census 2011 – We need more connectivity
Census 2011 – A Farce?
The Census 2011 is a farce. Attached is evidence of a Stats SA employee with eraser in hand, erasing out information on people's forms. He was sitting at the security hut at Erasmus Road, Edenglen, Edenvale. When I asked him what he was doing and why he was erasing, he said his supervisor told him to do this. I asked for a supervisor name, he said "I don't know". He continued to say "the people made mistakes and I must fix it". I asked how many forms he was erasing out, he said, "all of … [Read more...] about Census 2011 – A Farce?
Misleading Communique on Census 2011
Dear Sir Statistics South Africa seem to be ignoring Central and Richmond Hill in the sense that I am not aware of poster of any sort announcing the Census. Also yellow shirted census officials are conspicuous by their absence in the area. I would like to bring to the public's attention how to identify a census official: A yellow satchel with the census and Stats SA logos An A3 size book with a map of the area on the first page A yellow bib with the census and Stats SA logos A … [Read more...] about Misleading Communique on Census 2011
