Two Addo Elephant National Park (AENP) staff members walked away with Excellent Performance in the Workplace awards from this year’s SANParks Frontier Regional Achievement Awards. The awards evening take place annually, and gives recognition to individuals, teams and parks for outstanding service in the previous financial year – in this case 2016/17. Camdeboo National Park, bordering the town of Graaff-Reinet in the Eastern Cape, today celebrated ten years under the management of South African National Parks (SANParks). And Eastern Cape’s top green municipality is….

Camdeboo Local Municipality in the Sarah Baartman District is the Eastern Cape's top green municipality for 2015, beating five other local municipalities and taking the coveted award as well as a R500,000 cash reward. The announcement was made by MEC for Environmental Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism Sakhumzi Somyo at the marine day celebrations in Willowvale in the north-east of the province. The MEC for Local Government in the Eastern Cape appears to be condoning the appointment of Reverend Noel Pietersen as Municipal Manager in Camdeboo Municipality, despite his lack of necessary qualifications and poor track record in local government.
