Companies that do not comply with parameters as set out in their permits in terms of discharging their liquid waste into the municipal sewers be warned as the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is strengthening its systems in relation to monitoring. Residents urged to continue to conserve water
Confirmation has been received from Mr Barry Martin, NMBM Director of Water and Sanitation, that the minimum supply of water has been restored to all areas of the Metro, including the streets in Gelvandale that had no supply yesterday. The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality's effort to work around the clock to restore water supply, to the areas that are normally fed from the Churchill pipeline system that supplies a third of the city, paid dividends on Thursday afternoon, leaving Municipal staff to concentrate on restoring supply to remaining isolated streets in Schauderville. Dear Residents The metro Joint Operations Centre (JOC) has urged all residents to cut back on water usage after a critical pipeline, that supplies the city with a third of its water, burst during the early hours of this morning. Received the following suggestion via mail today; "Should the R260 million in water consumption penalties collected by the council not be used to complete the pipe line system."
