Please address the lack of transparency in SRAC, ignoring emails, not sharing their programmes for the financial year during last IDP session Dear Honourable Mayor Bhanga Congratulations on your appointment! Now business can go ahead in the Municipality serving our people at large! I wish to bring the following to your attention please.: During the last IDP session of SRAC, there was no presentation of their programmes at all to those who attended, not even a document. Thank you for your podcast “Red Location Failure” – Here are some comments:
Dear Alan Thank you so much Alan for your passionate & moving podcast "Red Location Failure" about the healing power the Red Location Museum contributed to our people during it's operational years. See: http://mype.co.za/new/red-location-failure/126601/2019/11/ for context. I sorely miss that era when the Museum operated as well - and I remember the awesome support you consistently provided during that time to our Museum as the MyPE website. Last week I was privileged to mingle … [Read more...] about Thank you for your podcast “Red Location Failure” – Here are some comments:

Speaking my mind about the situation for our City’s Visual Artists
Dear Everyone Nelson Mandela Bay: We lost a very dear friend, legendary artist, and brother: Mpumelelo Melane, who passed away last Thursday. May his soul rest in peace. Mpume played a significant role as an artist activist (under the banner of Imvaba) during the Struggle years and his artworks are in International collections all over the world. He also attended the UK - London Zabalaza anti-apartheid Struggle festival in 1989. Some of his works can be viewed inside our City - at the … [Read more...] about Speaking my mind about the situation for our City’s Visual Artists
Second Day of No Water in Sections of New Brighton
There is still no water in the area in which I live (New Brighton Railway Flats) and the smelly situation at the Red Location Museum continues! I hope this situation will be resolved today. The Municipality helpline lied to me when I phoned them yesterday morning - there was a strike and workers were locked in their offices until late afternoon! See my facebook conversation insert below - where the real reason is stated for our lack of water. Our principles should come out and address this … [Read more...] about Second Day of No Water in Sections of New Brighton
Huge Car Break-in at New Brighton Railway Flats
Dear Editor Seven cars were broken into last night at the Railway Flats off Ferguson Road, New Brighton. Six of these vehicles had there windows smashed in (apparently a "sparkplug" kind of method - that causes the windows to break rapidly) and the seventh vehicle had its tires removed. The 3 robbers were then spotted by the Railway Flats security as they were busy throwing the wheels over a boundary wall of the flats. Unfortunately the robbers got away. Of concern is that the police … [Read more...] about Huge Car Break-in at New Brighton Railway Flats
Global Building of the Year 2012 – Red Location Museum Art Gallery – Behind the Award
The Red Location Museum Art Gallery was recently awarded the title of Global Building of the Year 2012 by an online British design magazine, Icon Eye - competing against the Lyric Theatre Belfast, the High Line Section 2, Teruel-zilla and the Olympic Velodrome. As a Port Elizabeth local I attempt to support local business as much as possible and am known to be pretty anal about such mundane things as beer, choosing only to consume Fanta Brown quarts as they are manufactured right here in … [Read more...] about Global Building of the Year 2012 – Red Location Museum Art Gallery – Behind the Award
Red Location Christmas Lunch
On Friday 7 December 2012 the traditional Ward 15 Christmas Lunch for the Elderly once again took place in a jubilant and festive atmosphere on the porch of the Red Location Museum. Approximately 1000 citizens graced this honorary occasion. Mama Majola and her Olden Age Clubbers - who played games with them and taught them some "keep fit” secrets – entertained them first and foremost. Vibrant and the elderly's favourite jazz music was played in the background. The Programme Director … [Read more...] about Red Location Christmas Lunch
The Jarvis Gqamlana School Cleaned on Mandela Day
The cleaning of the Jarvis Gqamlana school on 18 July was such an awesome deed - its amazing how quickly many helping hands can transform a filthy school into a sparkling clean site! The action was organised by the ANC Ernest Malgas Branch from Ward 15. About 50 people contributed to this great action. They worked in shifts and the team included community activists and members, as as well known business people from other areas. "Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of … [Read more...] about The Jarvis Gqamlana School Cleaned on Mandela Day
