Richmond Hill Debacle

8 June 2012 By Port Elizabethan

The Richmond Hill Sector Crime Forum (RHSCF) saga continues, with mud-slinging and bad reporting holding sway. We don't know who is feeding Gareth Wilson his information, but he is certainly using it to try and make a name for himself. We all know that sensationalism sells newspapers! As a previous chairperson and current committee member of the Richmond Hill Community Forum, I am involved on a day-to-day basis with community affairs in the area. I know Alan Mounter (the current RHSCF … [Read more...] about Richmond Hill Debacle

Friday Rant – Herald, BRT, Home Affairs

Alan Mounter

Home Affairs: So my son of 20 years of age goes down to Home Affairs to apply for a passport. Before he goes he makes sure that he has the required copies, images and black pen. He gets the required forms, fills in the required information and proceeds to the fingerprinting department. There is one other gentleman sitting there. The fingerprinting official enters and observing that the gentleman has no forms and proceeds to help my son. The formless (gormless?) individual … [Read more...] about Friday Rant – Herald, BRT, Home Affairs

The Truth Behind Alan

8 June 2012 By Port Elizabethan

I am a pensioner and live on my own. I am also partially disabled. Alan helps me in so many ways. He has helped with car problems, he has fixed a chair for me. I was so upset by a personal situation and Alan chatted to me and sympathetically and constructively. He counselled me and gave me relevant material to look at. All for free! I see him around Richmond Hill all the time. He is everywhere. This gives me a feeling of security and comfort. We all know we can call on him for any … [Read more...] about The Truth Behind Alan

Alan Mounter – Hero of Richmond Hill

8 June 2012 By Port Elizabethan

It is with great concern and absolute horror that I read the article regarding Alan Mounter in this morning’s Herald (7 June 2012). The first thought that came to mind was “how dare they”, how dare they dig up old trash in order to further the sales of their newspaper or taking up the crusade of one individual, without taking into consideration the opinion of the rest of Richmond Hill residents. To set the record straight, Alan Mounter is not employed by the residents as a security guard nor … [Read more...] about Alan Mounter – Hero of Richmond Hill

If You Live in a Glass House Don’t Throw Criminal Records

5 June 2012 By Alan Straton

What in the name of all that is fair allows a local crime fighter to be summarily 'suspended' from his 'job' a year after he received a suspended sentence for an 'assault case' brought against him by a miscreant who dropped a 'double K, middle A' in the middle of the street? Especially when the SAPS and parliament continue to flout their own rules that require their employees to have an unblemished record? In their own unique way the people of Richmond Hill empowered one man, Alan Mounter, to … [Read more...] about If You Live in a Glass House Don’t Throw Criminal Records
