On 29 November 2010 the suggestion was made that Port Elizabeth should plan to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of St. Georges Park during the month of August 2011. Towards the end of last year I came across an entry in the book Port Elizabeth in Bygone Days, written by JJ Redgrave and published in 1947, that detailed the opening ceremony of St Georges Park on 6 August 1861.
