TAG Rugby Finals on Saturday During 7’s Rugby

8 December 2011 By Alan Straton

The Port Elizabeth hosted TAG rugby tournament and coaches clinic on 6 December 2011 was sponsored by Aggreko, the world leader in the provision of temporary power and temperature control services. The association is running these initiatives in cooperation with the South African Rugby Union, alongside the Port Elizabeth IRB Sevens taking place this weekend at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The TAG rugby programme saw over 100 local school children playing in the tournament. The two top-placed teams will then play off in a final match that will be held on the main pitch during the IRB Sevens within the finals programme on Saturday 10 December.

Aggreko has donated R20,000 to assist in the running of the Port Elizabeth TAG tournament, as well as providing all the coaching materials for the programme across South Africa in 2012.

Stuart McConnell, Director, TAG Rugby Association said: “We are thrilled to have Aggreko sponsor the TAG Rugby programme here in South Africa. Their support will have a massive impact on the success of the event and will also help us to continue the programme into 2012.”

“TAG Rugby is a wonderful initiative and something we are very proud to be a part of,” commented Martin Foster, Country Manager, Aggreko South Africa. “Rugby is a great influence for children, both in body and mind. To see all these happy, healthy children enjoying themselves in such a positive environment is simply awesome; and who knows, we may even have some future Springbok stars among us.”
