CAPE TOWN – The quick response by members of the Provincial Task Team landed a 38-year-old suspect behind bars for the possession of an unlicensed firearm with ammunition in NY108 Gugulethu last night, 09 December 2021. The members followed up information about a suspect with a firearm. When the suspect saw the police approaching he attempted to evade arrest however, he was apprehended. He was searched and a 9mm Taurus pistol with ammunition was found in his possession.
Once charged the suspect will make a court appearance in Athlone on the mentioned charges.
In an unrelated matter, Wynberg police arrested a 48-year-old lawyer for dealing in drugs at Wynberg Court today. The members received information that a lawyer will bring drugs to the court house and a description was given. The members followed up on the information and a lawyer fitting the description was apprehended. He was searched and found in possession of eighty packets of crystal meth. The suspect was arrested and detained, and he is due to make a court appearance in Wynberg on Monday, 13 December 2021.
