Today’s posts from our featured Port Elizabeth Blogger:
Fashion lovers and corporates alike, Hi!
Today I’d like to let you in on a style secret of mine.
Have you noticed that my trousers are always extra ‘special looking’?.
If you have a look at my previous posts, you’ll notice that I stay away from your ‘normal’ straight cut trousers and regular jeans.

My pants have quickly become my outfit staple piece.
Here I’m wearing a pair of high waisted black pleather pants, that have a skinny (leg) effect.

The staple piece is the ‘wow’ factor in your outfit. The piece everyone will admire and remember. Sometimes the staple piece can be your staple piece because of its colour, its fit, or its unique style.
This outfit includes a pop of colour, an amazing pair of gladiator heels (if I do say so myself) along with the unique pants. How do I know which is the staple piece you may ask?
Well, sometimes a pretty shoes is just that, a very pretty shoe. Sometimes the hint of colour prevents you from fading into the background (since I have a thing for blacks, whites, greys and nudes) but isn’t enough to make you stand out from the crowd.
These pants though, these pants make you stop and stare. They’re shiny pleather effect add a hint of curiosity and the pattern adds that final sense of admiration.
HOW TO PICK OUT AND NAIL YOUR STAPLE PIECE:
- Look for a clothing item that has a unique factor about it. Whether it be a pair of flair pants with a high slit (refer to my first blog post) or skin tight patterned trousers (refer to my second blog post).
- Sometimes a pop ( a little more than a hint) of colour can be all the staple you need. Adding some colour brings out some stunning features you never knew you had, i.e. skin tone or body build.
- Never be afraid to try a little something new (or different). Experiment, experiment, EXPERIMENT!

Till next time.

Excuse me while I have my model moment…
Okay, I’m done. Thank you!
Greetings to you all, I’m glad you stopped by.
CORPORATE CHIC– this can be defined as: ” A classy sophisticated manner, classy glamorous without being flashy. An element of class.”
I quite like that definition. I would personally describe Corporate chic as, LOW-KEY GLAMOUR. By that I mean, appearing glamorous, in the most subtle manner possible.

As someone who has always been interested in fashion and glamour, keeping up with the latest trends in the day to day context is not the easiest thing to do. Thigh high boots and fur coats aren’t always the most appropriate when going to have a business meeting at a coffee shop.
Over the seasons, I’ve had to learn to tone it down and dress according to my body (shape and size) and the given context and environment.
I still glam up for the occasional coffee date and consultation, but only because that’s the kind if person I am. ( I love the mantra ” If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you do good. If you do good, good comes back to you, therefore, I ALWAYS LOOK GOOD)
HOW TO NAIL THE CORPORATE CHIC STYLE
- Always carry some sass, along with a hint of wit.
- Exhale confidence as though it’s apart of the air you breathe. (Please note I said confidence, not arrogance)
- The pointed heel is a “shoe in” in the corporate chic department. (See what I did there
)

So, to you Miss low-key glamorous, Look good, Feel good, Do good and watch good come back to you. Please remember, no fur coats and thigh highs to business luncheons.
Till next time.
