Democratic Alliance (DA) Federal Leader, John Steenhuisen, will be visiting Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) on Monday, 28 October 2024, to discuss crime and safety issues on the Gqeberha beachfront and their impact on tourism in the area.
The ongoing destruction of municipal assets on the beachfront continues to compromise the tourism industry. Delayed repairs further exacerbate safety concerns, ultimately affecting the broader tourism industry and its associated employment.
Steenhuisen will be joined by DA Eastern Cape Provincial Leader, Andrew Whitfield, Provincial Chairperson, Yussuf Cassim, PE Southwest Constituency Leader, Retief Odendaal, DA Shadow MEC for Economic Development, Environmental Affairs and Tourism Leander Kruger, Councillors and representatives of the safety, security, and tourism sectors.
Only when the metro takes crime and tourism seriously will the rest of South Africa and the world recognise Nelson Mandela Bay.
