Port Elizabeth – Christopher Panayiotou’s bail application started in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court just before 10:30 on Thursday with his advocate Terry Price present.
Price was not in court on Wednesday which left Magistrate Abigail Beaton unimpressed because she said the court was not informed that he would not be there.
Price was in Johannesburg and set to board a plane to Port Elizabeth.
Advocate Theuns Roelofse told the court that Price would resume his duties as Panayiotou’s lawyer on Thursday.
This prompted Beaton to postpone the matter.
Price walked into the court room on Thursday and spoke to Panayiotou’s parents.
Price then left the family to go speak to Panayiotou, who is accused of master-minding his wife Jayde’s murder, in the holding cells.
He has been in jail for three weeks.
The court room was filled with family members, reporters and members of the public who wanted to attend proceedings.
People standing in the court, because there was no space to sit, were informed that they would have to leave once proceedings started. Only members of the media would be allowed to stand.
