Panoramic shot of the land facing side of St Croix Island. Once home to thousands of penguins and seals – a small population of penguins cllngs to survival on this barren island now. The seals have all moved to Bird Island. But there are early indications of a stabilisation and tiny uptick in the penguin population across the entire Algoa Bay – the next five or so years will be crucial in determining if the uptick will turn into a steady increase in numbers.

The small orange buoy in the image is a diver’s buoy – divers were being treated to visibility of around 20 metres and surrounded by Raggies.
