Apart from the Springbok Team that beat the All Blacks 18 – 5 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday 20 August 2011, the real winners were the Port Elizabeth Rugby going public and our packed tourism venues.
Most accommodation establishments had their “No room at the Inn” signs up weeks before the match and were gracious enough to refer people desperate for accommodation to surrounding areas such as Addo, Kirkwood, Jeffreys Bay and the like.
Over 45 000 spectators spending an average of R1 000.00 each (tickets, refreshments, regalia, food, transport and accommodation) on the day are worth a heap of turnover to local business. Do not forget, either, that the sheer volume of exposure given to Port Elizabeth via TV, Radio, Print and Internet will add millions more in value to our marketing of Port Elizabeth.
