In a very serendipitous moment I popped into the Springs Resort yesterday, for the FIRST TIME in 40 years and was pleasantly surprised at the cut lawns and general cleanliness of the resort. Unbeknownst to me at the time was that the Springs Resort is where the Netball World Cup Trophy Tour will be welcomed today.
The Friendly City and its people are ready and excited to welcome the prestigious World Cup trophy ahead of the much anticipated Netball World Cup tournament taking place in Cape Town from July.
NMBM Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture Portfolio Head, Cllr Bassie Kamana will lead a delegation to accept the trophy from the Sarah Baartman District Municipality on Sunday, 2 July 2023.
NMBM residents will get an opportunity to take part in various netball activities over the two- day tour and see the trophy which is on African soil for the first time.
The trophy stops within NMBM will be as follows:
- Sunday 2 July 2023 at 12:30 pm – Exchange and welcoming at Springs Resort in Kariega
- LoveLife Centre, KwaNobuhle
- SuperSpar, NU9 Motherwell
- Raymond Mhlaba Sport Centre, Motherwell
- SuperSpar, New Brighton
- SuperSpar, Gelvandale.
