Young artists from the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro and surrounds will be given an opportunity to break into the world of entertainment at the 2012 Splash Festival.
On Thursday, April 5, singers, dancers and D-Js of all ages can audition to be one of twenty artists performing for a fantastic grand prize at this year’s “Splash out your Talent” search competition, where entrants will be competing for a fantastic grand prize.
For the past three years, Greg Adams has organised the Splash Festival’s “BayFM D-J” search competition and this year, will be broadening the competition to cater for the entire family. Adams will be among the judges at the Hobie Beach Yacht Club listening to the auditions which will take place on Thursday, April 5 from 10h00.
On Friday, April 6, the 20 singers, dancers and D-Js who made it through the auditions will have the opportunity to entertain the crowds from 13h00 to 15h00 in the afternoon on the entertainment stage, and again from 16h15 to 17h15 on the main stage.
“It is clear from this year’s Splash line-up, which includes a number of local acts, just how much talent there is in the Metro. We were very happy to meet the municipality’s challenge to discover more young artists of all genres,” says Greg Moses of Go Big Events, which is responsible for organising the 2012 Splash Festival.
On Saturday, April 7, the talent show will run again from
13h00 to 15h00 in the afternoon on the entertainment stage, and again from 16h15 to 17h15 on the main stage.
On Sunday, April 8, the finals will be held on the main stage from 14h45 to 15h45.
Anyone wanting to enter the competition should go down to the Yacht club on Thursday, April 5 from 10h00. There is no age restriction so parents who want to show Port Elizabeth their kid’s talent should make their way down to the auditions to register.
The 2012 Splash Festival runs from Friday, April 6 through to Monday, April 9.
It offers free live entertainment from noon, plenty of beach and surf action, a funfair, climbing wall, stalls and more.
