Tickets to Port Elizabeth and South Africa’s first “Happiest 5k on the Planet” are officially sold-out due to overwhelming response from the keen public in Port Elizabeth. The Color Run™ 5k has been taking the world by storm and its first leg in the country continues the vibrant pace.

This is the world’s single-biggest event series that brings a kaleidoscope of colour to runners who start the race wearing white and get doused in a different colour for each kilometre. In each colour zone – yellow, red, blue and purple – volunteers shower runners and walkers with clouds of brightly coloured powder. (It’s food grade, coloured cornstarch, so it’s 100% natural, safe, and washes out.)

The first ever event on African soil is set to mark an awesome Spring Day in Port Elizabeth as participants revel in all the wildness at the NMMU nature reserve in Summerstrand. The Color Run™ is a fun, family-friendly race that celebrates healthiness, happiness, individuality, and giving back, bringing together communities to create a five-kilometre-long canvas of colour.

Port Elizabeth marks an excellent start for this popular run as the public is renowned for supporting and getting behind local events. The Color Run™ 5k is also set to hit Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg as it continues to get novices and serious athletes excited about this unique, healthy and happy experience.

Spring Day (1 September) falls on a Sunday this year.
