Solar Cars hope that rain will stop soon

30 September 2014 By Alan Straton

The Sasol Solar Challenge is coming to Port Elizabeth to-morrow when 11 local and international solar racing cars teams will pass through Port Elizabeth en-route from Pretoria to Cape Town, fuelled only by sunlight.

Ranked as one of the top global events of its kind, the Sasol Solar Challenge demonstrates the sophistication and power of solar technology. After months of hard work, teams will come together showcasing their innovative car designs and sophisticated engineering systems, with the ultimate challenge of powering a solar car across South Africa.
The PE Weather Guru predicts that the ongoing cloudy conditions and rain will stop mid morning to-morrow which will be just in time for the sunlight powered vehicles to strut their stuff at the Kings Beach parking lot on 1 October from around 15h00.

The pit stop will also include an exciting school activation where learners who have built a model solar-powered car will compete against other schools in the hopes of being the fastest solar team.
