Dear Editor
It is amazing that a formerly New Zealand supporting turncoat, currently residing in Cape Town whilst also never been born in Port Elizabeth and as per usual of the post 1994 neo-Africanists; a clout, fame and/or relevance seeker that is doing a showing of hand for the renaming of Cape Road to some Siya Kolisi Boulevard or so [The Herald 27 September 2024].
Maybe, he is schmoozing for our shallow-minded politicians to arrange a meet-up with the said Springbok captain in Mbombela, because, status-consciousness has no cap [excuse the pun] folks. The renaming of the [propagated as colonialism] names is getting out of hand now, just like the King Dawid Stuurman & King Shaka Airports that seem to have been named after some propulsion engineer of the Concorde passenger jet or an unsung fighter pilot; whilst neither have seen no more than birds fly or ostritches kicking a provocateur to thy kingdom come whilst flapping their wings wildly.
The renaming of Cape Road to Siya Kolisi would likely succeed on the proviso that he is primarily a CODESA Posterboy, meaning, an ANC Anointee and/or South African White Capital Approved Individual, as per apparent Convention for a Democratic South Africa [CODESA] Directive or Resolution; the utmost important criterion to be recognised by our beloved Black Educational Snobs [BES] and their Verkrampte Witmense [VW] aka White Supremacist counterparts since around the 1993 or so CODESA jamboree and resultant governing cartel.
As a philosopher in the Stoic website or Facebook page correctly opined :- “Most trouble in the world is caused by people who want to be important.” The advocates for the renaming of Port Elizabeth, Port Elizabeth International Airport, William Moffett Expressway and now, Cape Road, fit that self-importance and narcissistic bill to a tee.
