Today’s posts from our featured Port Elizabeth Blogger:

Yesterday I went for a walk down memory lane.
I taught at Grey from 1984 to 1988 and again in 2004.
Now I’m retired due to “ill health”.
In 1984, I taught mathematics to Nico de Vries. He was in matric and we lived together in Meriway Hostel.
Now he’s a successful MAX gum guard manufacturer and fitter, even to the very best national athletes and Springbok players.
In 2004, Siya Kolisi joined Grey Primary.
Now he’s the first black Springbok rugby captain and he sports MAX gum guards – Nico’s product.

I’m not walking today. It’s too windy and it’s cold and my hip is eina.
But my mind is racing. It’s completing forms, making payments, e-mailing documents, making phone calls and fetching cars.
Phillip was involved in a car accident about a month ago. Today his vehicle was officially consigned to the car cemetery.
RIP Black VW Polo. You served Sean, Phillip and I well, and weathered many storms of life … gravel kerbs, hail storms, motor bike spills.and other cars. You visited the car hospital a few times.
Now it’s all over. RIP
Goodbye Black Polo. Hello White Polo.
