About Shamwari Eagles Crag

Welcome to Shamwari Private Game Reserve, the ultimate luxury Big Five African safari adventure and conservation effort coupled with responsible tourism. Shamwari Private Game Reserve is home to Africa’s Big 5, and is malaria free and is situated in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

We want you to experience, learn and enjoy the very best that African wildlife viewing can offer. To achieve this goal, we have brought together the best that the area has to offer. There is great game viewing, in modern open game viewing vehicles that have been especially converted to maximise comfort and viewing potential.

Your personal game ranger will provide insightful and valuable information about the fauna and flora. In between game drives your time is filled with relaxing, reading, spa treatments, swimming, enjoying delicious cuisine, a game walk, or a visit to one of the two Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries.

A sophisticated safari experience, Eagles Crag provides exclusivity and spectacular views. Making efficient use of its idyllic setting, guests can immerse themselves in nature’s magnificent beauty and marvel at the lush vegetation and rocky cliffs that surround this luxurious property.

Safari: Shamwari offers excellent game drives and viewing of the Big 5 and various other species.

Addo is synonymous with the Elephant Park held within its borders. A small town located in the Sarah Baartman region of the Eastern Cape about an hours drive away from Gqeberha. Addo has many great features to it independent of the famed and gracious elephants.

The Sundays River snakes its way through the area providing water sport opportunities, with the Zuurberg Mountains that surround Addo providing hiking and horse riding trails. The bird life here is spectacular with a good variety of birds sighted.

The neighbouring Addo Elephant National Park (as part of the South African National Parks Board) is what draws thousands of visitors from all over the world. The Park boasts as South Africa’s “Big Seven” as it now includes the Southern Right Whale and great white shark since the Park extends to the sea and nearby islands.

Addo has many historical sites which date back as far as 1829.
