Sergeal Petersen withdrawn from Bulls game

19 April 2013 By Alan Straton

Announcing what must be a big disappointment for many, Director of Rugby, Alan Solomons, said Sergeal Petersen has been withdrawn from the team following a groin strain during practice yesterday and following medical advice it was decided to rest him. Marcello Sampson now comes up from the bench in his place and Vodacom Cup player, Scott van Breda has been called up to the bench for his Super Rugby debut.

“Van Breda provides cover at a number of positions and had been playing exceptionally well at Vodacom Cup level,” he said.

Southern Kings Team to Play Bulls at the NMB Stadium, Port Elizabeth on Saturday 20 April 2013:

  • Starting Line-up: 15. George Whitehead, 11. Marcello Sampson, 13. Waylon Murray, 12. Andries Strauss (Vice Captain), 14. Ronnie Cooke, 10. Demetri Catrakilis, 9. Shaun Venter, 1. Schalk Ferreira, 2. Bandise Maku, 3. Kevin Buys, 6. Cornell du Preez, 4. Steve Sykes, 5. David Bullbring, 7. Wimpie van der Walt, 8. Luke Watson (Captain)
  • Replacements: 16. Hannes Franklin, 17. Grant Kemp, 18. Rynier Bernado, 19. Jacques Engelbrecht, 20. Nicolas Vergallo, 21. Scott van Breda, 22. Siviwe Soyizwapi
