The Chevrolet Warriors played their opening Standard Bank Pro20 match at Buffalo Park in East London on Sunday 30 January and over 3000 cricket lovers came out to enjoy the great weather and exciting cricket.

“We were thrilled with the attendance in East London and want to thank the Border public for their support of the team. Even though the Chevrolet Warriors are based in Port Elizabeth the team belongs to the entire Eastern Cape and therefore are an integral part of the East London community. We are pleased to see that that the public are identifying with the team.” Said Chevrolet Warriors  CEO, Dave Emslie.

The Standard Bank Pro20 is a major tournament in the cricket calendar and crowd participation is part of the winning culture Cricket Eastern Cape are striving for. The exciting finish and great win on Sunday for the Chevrolet Warriors should encourage cricket lovers to come to the ground and enjoy the thrills of Pro20 cricket.

“With the support of our dedicated fans, the team was able to pick itself up and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. We urge the fans to continue this support and to come to Buffalo Park on Friday 4 February when the Chevrolet Warriors play the Nashua Dolphins” CEC Chairman Chris Nenzani said.

“Being out on the field and hearing the crowd support always makes a huge difference to the team. The fan support is never underestimated by the team and we’d like to thank everyone for being there on Sunday – we are looking forward to another great match in East London on Friday and know that we can rely on the East London public to come out and support us” said captain Davy Jacobs.
