Seda NMB ICT Incubator brings new opportunities to Metro entrepreneurs

Seda NMB ICT Incubator (SNII) have remodelled and repositioned the incubator to include services that can develop the ICT sector in the Nelson Mandela Bay and support the city’s young entrepreneurial minds. The new identity will officially be revealed in March 2018 at the new premises at Kwantu Towers in Govan Mbeki, NMB.

“Moving our office premises from Newton Park to the central business district in October last year, was the first critical step in the renewing process to improve accessibility for young business owners,” says Centre Manager of SNII, Phumza Mfenyana.

Since 2008, SNII has supported technology focussed small businesses and entrepreneurs in the start-up phase of their businesses and provided physical office space, business mentoring, networking opportunities, facilities and skills development.

The main objective of the incubator is to remain at the cutting edge of the fast-paced ICT sector.

Looking ahead, SNII will focus on technologies that have the potential for disrupting existing value chains to facilitate market access including; automation and robotics, educational technology, smart agriculture, big data analytics, cloud computing and cryptocurrency.

To achieve this a revitalised set of enterprise development interventions will be introduced including stricter selection criteria of clients and a restructured programme in association with key enterprise development institutions in the Metro.

SNII will become a co-working space for entrepreneurs and innovators in the Nelson Mandela Bay, where they can collaborate and together create solutions that have the potential to enable socioeconomic development.

“With the continued support of Seda and the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, the SEDA NMB ICT Incubator is in a prime position to become the premium innovation hub for the Nelson Mandela Bay,” says Mfenyana.
