Its that time of year again when the Saints Football Club holds its annual junior seven-a-side tournament.
On Woman’s Day, Thursday 9 August, clubs from all around the Mandela metro will be gathering at the Saints field for a day of sport, camaraderie and fun as they vie for the coveted title of the best in their age group. From U9 to U17 there will be seventeen clubs and 55 teams participating and all attempting to walk away with the trophies in the various age groups.
The Head coach of Saints, Mr Frankie Schoeman stated at the launch this past Friday evening it is important to get the youth involved in sport as the clubs try to get them off the streets and away from drugs and gangsterism. It also teaches the youngsters discipline and this guides them in life. The club Chairman thanked the clubs who had entered for their continued support over the years and this was one of the biggest yet and looks to grow it even bigger in the years to come.
The public is welcome to attend and there will be bar facility and food will be on sale. A fun and sporting day should be had by all. Good luck to all teams who are participating.
