Roger Sikhakhane appointed as Chippa full time head coach

In a much anticipated move Chippa United Football Club chairman Chippa Mpengesi has appointed the club caretaker coach Roger Skhakhane full time on a three year contract, a move that will be viewed by many as a sign of stability and determination for success.

Sikhakhane was appointed caretaker coach after former coach Kosta Papic resigned earlier in the season and has since managed to steer the Chilli Boys to tremendous success since taking over.

“I have never considered the issue of full time versus care taker as of major concern, I have always set my eyes on the most important thing, the job at hand. I welcome the appointment and it excites me that once again there is a South African young coach just like me, who is given an opportunity to be at the helm, and I dedicate this appointment to all our fellow national coaches who work hard waiting for a moment like this to happen”, said the 39 year old mentor.

Known for dressing smartly at every game oozing confidence, Sikhakhane is also regarded as one of the humblest and yet successful coaches, “We now give you this opportunity Roger, to go out there and enjoy your career without any pressure, and without any fear that you may lose your job. This is our sign of trust and confidence in you that you will build our team further as you have been with us for a long time now. You deserve this opportunity”, said United Chairman Chippa Mpengesi.

Addressing the squad afterwards Mpengesi said he wanted the players to express themselves more, as there is no pressure at the club. He said his players need to support the coach, and continue giving the technical staff the respect they deserve.

Sikhakhane celebrates 17 points from 9 games and his team is at position 3 with 21 points, just 12 points behind log leaders Kaizer Chiefs.

This weekend Sikhakhane will lead his charges against Polokwane City at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 06 December 2014 at 20:15.
