Roadworks continue at night in Port Elizabeth

Night roadworks will take place this week, over four consecutive nights within the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality area in Port Elizabeth in the Eastern Cape. On each occasion the works will start at 7pm, continue through the night before the roads will be re-opened again at 5am the following morning.

The South African National Roads Agency Ltd (SANRAL) would like to advise motorists that from tonight (Wednesday, 13 April) at 7pm there will be ramp closures on the John Tallant interchange.

The roadworks will go ahead, weather permitting. There will be digital signs to caution motorist of ongoing roadworks taking place at night.

Reduced speed limits will be enforced.

The resealing of the road is to continue in both directions of Bluewater Bay interchange and St George’s interchange. Work will continue throughout the week. There will be lane closures with a double lane being merged into a single traffic lane.

The construction of concrete lined drains will continue past the Settlers interchange in a westerly direction. There will be shoulder lane closures. Work is to continue throughout the week.

“Motorists must be observant of all lane closures and warning signs, and exercise extreme caution when travelling through the construction work zones,” said Mbulelo Peterson, Sanral Southern Region regional manager.
