LinkedIn.com, a business-oriented social networking website, released a detailed document that highlighted job recruiting trends in South Africa for the year 2016.
This document findings were based on a survey they conducted on more than three thousand talent acquisition decision makers who are members of the network, are South African citizens and employed in corporate HR departments. They also had some level of authority in their company’s recruitment solutions budget.
From the report, these important points were noted:
- The quality of persons that are being recruited is the single most valuable metric that talent acquisition decision makers use to track their recruiting team’s performance
- Employee retention is a top most priority for the organization in the next 12 months
Biggest obstacles faced in attracting the best talent:
- 55% said finding candidates in high demand talent pools
- 48% said their biggest challenge was compensation
- 32% said their biggest challenge was competition
Sourcing for Quality Hires – When asked where they source quality personnel:
- 37% said they search applications made at the company’s career website
- 33 said they prefer internal hires
- 31% turn to social professional networks to hunt for quality hires
Quality of Hire – When asked how they measured their quality of hire:
- 49% said they measure through turnover or retention statistics
- 46% said they measure through new hire performance evaluation
- 41% said they measure through their hiring manager’s satisfaction
