EP Cricket released this statement on the recent sanction by CSA under the hand of Donovan May, President of Eastern Province Cricket who explained:
After the Cricket South Africa (CSA) One Day Cup group matches concluded on 9 March 2025, CSA confirmed via a media release that the Titans and Dafabet Warriors would compete for a place in the final at SuperSport Park on Wednesday.
However, CSA has subsequently sanctioned the Dafabet Warriors for partially breaching CSA’s Administrative Conditions, specifically Transformation Targets, during their match against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins on 16 February 2025.
As a result, the Warriors will lose match points, pay a R500 000 fine, and the Dolphins will gain four match points.
To our knowledge, no penalties of this scale have been imposed before, and the Warriors have never previously breached CSA’s Transformation Targets.
To our knowledge other teams have failed to meet these requirements on multiple occasions without facing similar sanctions.
Eastern Province Cricket (EPC) has formally disputed the sanctions under the CSA Memorandum of Incorporation.
EPC is awaiting CSA’s decision on whether the dispute will be resolved through mediation, a round table meeting, or arbitration.
