Pulling the Plug on Load Shedding

Thousands of residents, plagued by sustained loadshedding across Nelson Mandela Bay are expected to attend The Power On Expo at the Walmer Park Shopping Centre Underground Parkade on 8 and 9 August.

The first exhibition of its kind in the region, Power On, endorsed by the Nelson Mandela Bay Chamber of Commerce, will feature hundreds of service providers or products that will either assist residences and businesses to generate their own electricity or manage the devastating effects of loadshedding.

Inkanyezi Events CEO Andrew Binning said the expo was aimed at assisting power users to make informed decisions about options available to keep the lights on and reduce monthly electricity bills.

“We have had an overwhelming response from the public and business, Binning said.

Exhibitors include Rubicon, the largest “balance of power’ distribution company in South Africa, the country’s largest electrical retailer, Voltex, Schultz Power Systems, Schutten Solar, Consult, Design, Install Energy Solutions, ADT, Atlas, Microcare, QDM Solar, Green Overall and Totally Solar PE, among others.

“The expo will showcase complete green energy solutions for homes and businesses but also gadgets like batteries, invertors, geyser blankets, chargeable lights and gas products among others.”, Binning said.

“The exhibition will bring together the most innovative and comprehensive range of energy solutions, under one roof, which allows visitors the opportunity to discuss, touch and compare products and their providers at one location within a few hours, Binning said.

He said more than 10 000 visitors were expected at the show over the Saturday and Sunday of the long weekend with Sunday being Womens’ Day.

One of the major draw cards for visitors is an attendance lucky draw prize of a complete “grid connected solution’’ valued at R100 000 sponsored by Microcare Solar Components, QDM Solar and Rubicon SA which includes photo voltaic panels, batteries and inverter in addition to the installation.

The show will be open from 9am to 5pm. Visitors pay R20 for access. Children under 12 enter free.
