Provincial Golf : EC vs Border

 
This weekend we will see Eastern Cape take on Border in an Inter-provincial Golf Match.
Royal Port Alfred Golf Club will host the event on Saturday and Sunday, 13th and  14th August respectively.

Saturday will be an Open 36 Hole Stroke Play Competition, open to any lady that would like to participate.

Sunday will be exclusive EC vs Border in a Match Play Competition. They will play in four teams with Young Kim Daniels, captaining the A team.
Match play is a game played by holes. Who ever takes the least strokes to sink the ball on a particular hole, wins that hole. Who ever wins the most holes over the 18 holes is deemed the winner and takes one point forward for the team. In the event of a draw, only a half point is added to the team score card.
So the Province with most points will be deemed the winner.

Up until 1969 EP and Border have been playing under one umbrella. By that time Border had enough ladies to break away and
formed there own association and they now play each other annually.  The  competition used to be shared between Port Elizabeth and East London Golf Courses. Now from a financial point, East Cape take on Border at the Royal Port Alfred Golf Course annually, with each Province doing the hosting on alternate years.
The logistics of putting this event together is thanks to the generous sponsorship from Nomads PE and EL who both contribute 50% each.
