Provincial Conference Preparations

23 April 2013 By Port Elizabethan

Dear Editor

The African National Congress Nelson Mandela Region is currently busy with its political, developmental and organisational programmes. Among these is our preparations for the upcoming Eastern Cape Provincial Conference.

The ANC Nelson Mandela Region will fully participate in this watershed conference and, in preparation thereof, has begun an objective and strategic assessment of the organisation in this province, more especially as to how it relates to the programmes of the Nelson Mandela Region.

We are happy to say that the current leadership has served this Province well since their election in September 2009. Since then they have managed to build the ANC Eastern Cape Province into a united movement and it has made its mark on national programmes of the ANC, with our Province being a leading one at the recent National Conference in Mangaung.

The ANC Nelson Mandela Regional Executive Committee (REC) is thus unequivocal in our support of Cde Phumulo Masualle as the Provincial Chairperson, Oscar Mabuyane as the Secretary, Helen Sauls-August as the Deputy Secretary and Thandiswa Marhawu as the Provincial Treasurer. As Comrade Gugile Nkwinti was elected to the NEC he may no longer serve on the PEC – our Region will thus be engaging with other regions who share our perspective as to who would best serve the interests of the Province as the Deputy Chairperson.

In preparation for the Conference we are meeting with all Branches and intend to make a huge impact on the discussions and plan of action emanating from the conference. At the same time we will also discuss as to who we think is best from our Region to serve as additional members on the PEC. Following such discussions as we guide Branches leading up to the Conference, we will liaise, consult and engage with other regions.
