Post Office reaches out to the Care Haven Psychiatric Home

As part of its Corporate Social Investment programme the South African Post Office (SA Post Office) conducted an internal drive to give back to the local Port Elizabeth community. During March 2012 the SA Post Office staff members collected much needed bedding and crockery for the Care Haven Psychiatric Home in Central, Port Elizabeth.

Speaking at the handover held on 23 March, Cheryl Kemp, SA Post Office regional communication specialist, said that CSI is about celebrating strength and achievement and acknowledging people in need. “As an organisation we are extremely proud of the support we received from our staff. Their enthusiasm and interest in the campaign has been inspiring.”

“The South African Post Office strives to enrich its community with sustainable projects that enhance society and make a positive impact on the standard of living,” concluded Kemp.

In addition to collecting bedding and crockery, SA Post Office staff also received a donation of fresh vegetables for the home.
The Care Haven Psychiatric Home provides counseling, psychiatric facilities, and promotes social and recreational activities for all psychiatric patients in the Eastern Cape. The Centre is situated in Central in the Eastern Cape and services patients from the surrounding region.
