PE’s hope in the World Cup – AJ Rademacher

PE’s hop in the 2014 Nissan World Cup Qualifier at the PE Riding club in November 2014.

Local Port Elizabeth Riding Club member, AJ Rademacher started riding at the age of 12 at the local riding school in George. He then got his first horse a year later and started competing at Riding Shows.

Rademacher will be carrying the Eastern Cape’s hopes in the Nissan World Cup Qualifier 2014, which will take place in Port Elizabeth between 13 and 16 November 2014 at the Port Elizabeth Riding Club in Lorraine.

AJ has been competing in Show Jumping, Dressage and Equitation as a Junior Rider (age 12 to 18) in:

  • Junior Show Jumping – to 1.30 M Level
  • Junior Dressage – to EM level
  • Junior Equitation – to OPEN level

AJ was in the Eastern Cape Junior Show Jumping team for 4 years. He also competed in the Dressage and Equitation team for two years.

In 2011 (at the age of 16) he competed in the South African Derby on a horse named “Winslow Cognac”.  Going around that track was the highlight of his riding career to this point. At the South African Derby the jumps stand from 1.50 M to 1.65 M. The distance of such a track is very long and consists of big bold jumps. This event is watched by thousands of spectators and represented an amazing achievement as it was 4 and a half years into his riding career.

2011 he won the first leg of the Stal van Decraen Young Riders Series on “Alzu Ovation”.

2013 he was the overall winner of the Stal van Dacraen Young Riders series.  Winning 3 of the 4 legs again on “Alzu Ovation”.

2013 he won the second leg of the Hilmar Meyer Young Riders Series on “Alzu Ovation”

2014 he was the overall winner of the Hilmar Meyer Young Riders Series on “Alzu Ovation”

He has managed to produce a number of young horses that have excelled in top events, this includes his top horse “Alzu Ovation”.

His short term goal is to compete in the World Cup Series in South Africa with a long term goal and dream to compete in the International Classes in Europe with the best in the World.
