PEople’s Triathlon Set to Make Waves at Hobie Beach

The highly anticipated People’s Triathlon is set to take place this Sunday, 15 September at Hobie Beach, Port Elizabeth, promising an action-packed day of endurance racing. With a record entry of nearly 200 athletes, including Paris Olympic debutants Jamie Riddle and Kirsty Weir, this event is set to be a thrilling showcase of athletic prowess.

The triathlon features three race distances, with events kicking off at 7:00 AM:

  • People’s 30: Winners expected by 08:30
  • People’s 60: Winners expected by 09:40
  • People’s 90: Winners expected by 10:50

All events will include an ocean swim at Hobie Beach, followed by a lapped road cycle, and concluding with a run along the stunning beachfront from Pollok Beach to Kings Beach.

Road closures will be in effect along Beach Road and Marine Drive between 2nd Avenue and Secrets Beach from 06:00 to 11:30. Motorists are advised that no thoroughfare will be possible between Schoenmakerskop and Summerstrand during this time.
