Pamela Mabini’s killing demands urgent action

The cold-blooded murder of Pamela Mabini has left a family shattered, a community reeling, and a city grieving the loss of a fearless activist.

Pamela was not just a human rights advocate; she was a lifeline for many. Through her Maro Foundation, she provided food, shelter, and support to abandoned children. She stood alongside survivors of gender-based violence, lending her voice to the voiceless. She believed in justice, and now, justice must be served for her.

Her murder is not just a tragedy, it is a stark reminder of the violent crime that she actively campaigned against.

This is not just another crime. It is a direct attack on the fight for justice. The Hawks together with other law enforcement agencies must act without delay to find the perpetrators and ensure they face the full force of the law.

Yesterday, a DA delegation from the Ngqura Constituency, led by Kabelo Mogatosi MPL, visited the Mabini family to offer their support. But no visit, no words, no condolences can undo the horror of this loss.

Pamela once said that her tireless efforts were “sparked by love”. It is now up to all of us to ensure that her life’s work does not end in silence.

We must fight for justice, we must demand accountability, and we must refuse to accept a South Africa where activists are killed for doing what is right.
