Helen Martins left behind a wonderful legacy that still captures and haunts those that visit this magical place called the Owl House in Nieu Bethesda. This is where she lived and sculpted hundreds of statues depicting owls, camels, churches, sphinxes, people and a wide range of religious artefacts that can still be seen in her house and the garden, the Camel Yard. Ground glass of various colours covers her house inside – walls, doors & even the ceilings. Definitely a must see!! JustGo visit.

Nieu Bethesda is a small village situated in the Eastern Cape, South Africa and can be accessed by 2 roads off the N9 – gravel road/tar road. Note: NO petrol garage/ATM’s and few credit card facilities so take cash with. Owl House: Entrance fee applicable.
