O’Week Fun

Despite the early morning showers first year students welcomed the challenge of day 2 of O’week with big smiles and unconstrained excitement. Day 2 of O’week consisted of O’games and a Pub Lunch which was held at the Old Grey Sports Club on the 28th of January.

“O’week known as orientation week is an annual week of events designed for all first year students. The aim is to help students familiarise themselves with the campus and to encourage students to engage and interact with other students. O’week provides first year students with the opportunity to network, make new friends and have a lot of fun at the same time” says Danielle Campbell, Vice Principal of Marketing.

Day 1 of O’week was held at the Varsity College campus with a fun fair. Students received a warm welcome and had the opportunity to learn more about the different departments and support services on campus with a fun fair atmosphere.

O’games kicked off with a number of activities, to mention a few: creating a team name, flag & song, tug of war, sumo wrestling, water balloon over & under, water bucket challenge and last but not least was definitely the 12m waterslide filled with bubbles which proved to be the highlight of the O’games. To end off the O’games Red Bull joined in all the fun and excitement by providing the music and hosting a dance competition for the students while their wing girls gave out free red bull which was enjoyed by all. Thereafter, students headed over to the Old Grey Pub for an enjoyable lunch.

Thursday the 29th of January followed with a Wet n Wild fun day at the McArthurs Swimming Pool where students got the opportunity to relax and have a blast beside the pool as well as participate in the Red Bull volley ball challenge, soccer and touch rugby on the beach. Adding to the lovely day was the delicious lunch sponsored by Red Rock Spur at the Boardwalk. Following lunch students got together for the annual Mr & Miss O’week.

To end off this exciting O’week experience , Friday the 30th of January, first year students went on a bus bash for some fun in city.
