Our Barefoot Mayor Wants Your Shoes

The Nelson Mandela Bay Education Task Team is hosting its first fundraising initiative on Saturday 28 January 2012 in the form of “Uniform Begging”.

Executive Mayor will be joined by top business leaders and celebrities such as MBDA CEO Pierre Voges, NMBT CEO, Mandlakazi Skefile, Khusta Jack The Boardwalk Chairperson Bongi Siwisa, The New Afro Teens band members, representatives from GM South Africa and local DJ Selwyn Willis amongst others.

The teams will be barefoot and dressed in grey school pants and white school shirts whilst at their stations at Walmer Park and Greenacres Shopping Centres and will be begging shoppers for school shoes.

Look out for the Mayor from 11:00am till 2:00pm. The idea for the Mayor’s ‘back to school’ approach to raising money was developed from an initial one by Top 40 Under 40 Nominee, Lynn Erasmus.

To kick start the fund today, Khusta Jack made a donation of R15 000 towards the Education Task Team at the Greenacres Shopping Centre Food Court.
