Join Port Elizabeth and MyPE in congratulating Mover and Shaker, Ntoza Bam from NMMU:

Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University’s newly-appointed Executive Director of Human Resources, Ntoza Bam, comes with a wealth of experience, spanning 24 years across various sectors, including local government, media and banking.

She also has impressive academic credentials, which include a master’s degree in Business Leadership and a postgraduate diploma in Employment Law.

She joins NMMU from the University of the Western Cape, where she had been HR director since 2013. Her prior positions include: HR Executive at the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality, Group Talent Manager at Media24, also in Cape Town, and various senior executive positions in HR at Old Mutual Namibia, the Metropolitan Health Group and marketing company Forward Slash.

Early on in her career, she was HR Officer at the University of Cape Town and prior to that, a benefits clerk at Norwich Life.

Ms Bam’s master’s degree in Business Leadership from the University of South Africa (UNISA) focussed on labour broking practice in South Africa, with special reference to the metal and engineering sector of the Western Cape.

She obtained her postgraduate diploma in Employment Law and Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Cape Town.

Commenting on her new position at NMMU, she said: “It is exciting to be associated with a dynamic African university recognised for its leadership in generating cutting-edge knowledge for a sustainable future. The University vision gives the HR department an opportunity to continue to raise the bar and to be adaptable to the constant changes in the Higher Education sector, especially in the light of the #FeesMustFall movement.

“I am looking forward to working at NMMU and being part of a team that is adaptable to new ways of doing things, committed to transformation and is, in a sense, moving from the familiar to unchartered waters.”
