Dear Editor
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Eastern Cape has unanimously resolved to serve DA member Nqaba Bhanga with a notice of intention to suspend him from all party activities pending the outcome of an investigation into claims of bringing the party in disrepute, among other transgressions of the DA’s standards of conduct for its members.
The intention to suspend Nqaba Bhanga follows after he publicly labelled another DA member, Helen Zille, a “racist” and posted unfounded allegations against her on social media.
After receiving the notice of intention to suspend him, Bhanga will have 48 hours to respond in writing with reasons as to why he should not be suspended.
The PEC has referred the case to the party’s Federal Legal Commission (FLC) for an investigation.
The DA in the Eastern Cape is deeply disappointed by Bhanga’s conduct which is contrary to his previous commitment to non-racialism and the Party.
Regards
Andrew Whitfield MP
DA EC Provincial Leader
Clarity: The former Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay, Nqaba Bhanga allegedly posted this message to his Facebook account yesterday; “Helen zille is the most racist person she got of a file of all back people. Yesterday I learnt how she got information to try to destroy mnrthe ANC. I’m hurt to know that you were working with the the ANC against me,”
Many followers of the page enquired as to whether he had been hacked as the message is clearly political suicide with the DA.
Editor: So, if I was Bhanga and found out that Helen had a file on all members (Bhanga says black members in his post) then I would have gone about showing my displeasure in a different way. I am sure that no member of the DA would be happy knowing that Aunty Helen had a file on them that could be used against them…
Coming out and basing the accusations on race only are pretty doomed to failure and will create smoke and mirrors around the ‘secret files’ kept on members of the DA – SHOULD those allegations be proven true.
