“Now in Four Rooms” is a photographic exhibition that features the work of Tim Hopwood, Sandy Coffey, Stephen Walker, Sam Davis, Russell Kana and Natalie Field. The brief to the artists was simple: What is happening in your photographic life right now?

Tim Hopwood, Sandy Coffey and Stephen Walker have collaborated in one room of the gallery to exhibit a series of Hipstamatic photographs – a cult that is proving to be as popular as the old Polaroid images. Taken with an iphone, these images are both mysterious and quirky and represent the daily lives of these photographers. Each artist had to choose 64 images and these are exhibited collectively in a collage format.

Sam Davis’s “Impressions in Light”, is a body of work inspired by emotion, atmosphere, light and feeling. Each image focuses on the light found within beauty and life, and is shaped by Sam’s perception and thought. She has explored her personal journey into modern day digital photography, and combines this with text and emotions to produce a series of evocative images.

Natalie Field – fresh from her recent successful exhibition at Sliced Bread Gallery, explores her personal development as a photographer and digital artist to create a new body of work: “On the Other Side” is a reflection on the process of photo manipulation as an art form. She has used digital technology as an essential tool in the creative process, elements from every day scenes, scanned negatives, and digitized objects and has constructed them into new realities. The result is a mystical body of work.

“Can you hold Death like your Own” is the title of Russell Kana’s work. These thought provoking images are an exploration into the mourning process after the death of his mother. These massive images represent both his grief and his exploration into the mystery of life and death. These images are flanked by his poems during that period.

The exhibition, curated by Sandy Coffey, is on from the 19th July until the 29th July. Opening night begins at 6pm and Neil Hart, MD of Boomtown, is the guest speaker. Warm soup will be available for sale, and there is a donation based wine bar.
