No More Boney M [At the Stadium]

The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium has corrected an earlier statement on 13 December 2028, about the cancellation of the Boney M Concert at the stadium and clarified that the concert has been MOVED to The Boardwalk.

BONEY M CONCERT ON THE MOVE

Friday, December 14, 2018: Event organizer, Soul Good confirmed today that the performance by Euro Caribbean vocal group, Boney M, previously to be staged at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 26th December 2018, has relocated the performance to the Boardwalk.

“Clearly, we are disappointed that our iconic stadium will not play host to Boney M. However, in the interests of the city, we are grateful that the concert will still go ahead,” says Mpho Mokonyama, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium Manager. “We’d like to wish Soul Good and Algoa FM all success with the concert.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, has put together a number of value-add events and would like to encourage the public to attend these over the December period.

“We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and interest everyone has shown in the Boney M concert. In addition to the aforementioned show, music enthusiasts can look forward to two concerts at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium before year end, namely the Ebubeleni hip hop versus Gqom show on the 28th of December and the Main Music Festival on the 30th of December”, said Phumulani Hlatshwayo, HOD: Commercial

Thursday, December 13, 2018: Subsequent to citing prevalent administrative issues, the event organizer, Soul Good has confirmed that the performance by Euro Caribbean vocal group, Boney M, previously to be staged at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 26th December 2018, has now been cancelled at the facility.

The MBDA, operator of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, wishes to place on record that, operationally it was ready to stage the event and as in the case with all events, the staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that the stadium was prepared for the concert.

“This event would have been important, as it would have heralded the start of the festive season and we know that supporters will obviously be very disappointed in what has happened.” said Mpho Mokonyama, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium Manager.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, has put together a number of value added events and encourage spectators to attend these over the December period.

“We greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and interest that everyone has shown towards the Boney M concert but music enthusiast should not despair as the stadium will still host two additional concerts before year end, namely the Ebubeleni hip hop versus Gqom on 28 December and the Main Music Festival on 30 December”. said Phumulani Hlatshwayo, HOD: Commercial
