A Group Exhibition by Young Emerging Contemporary Artists from the NMMU.

2010 was an outstanding year for Port Elizabeth and the NMMU School of Music, Art and Design. The young artists who made 2010 a memorable year are celebrating their entry into the world of the Professional Artist, and will present their work for viewing at the EPSAC Community Art Centre.

Their exhibition, Exodus, will open on Tuesday 18th January 2011 (5:30 for 6:00pm) at EPSAC, in the Lower Gallery, 36 Bird Street Central. The exhibition will be on display until the 28th January 2011.

The work on display at the EXODUS exhibition is an exciting mixture of painting, sculpture, photography and mixed media. This exhibition celebrates the achievements of the young artists who were awarded and selected for national art competitions during 2010.

6 students were selected for the Absa L’ Atelier, 16 for the Sasol New Signatures and 1 for the PPC Young Sculptors art competition. The highlight of 2010 was the Sasol New Signatures art competition where NMMU students won 4 out of the top 7 places; Alhyrian Laue was the overall winner of Sasol New Signatures 2010 with 3 Merit winners, Gerhardt Coetzee, Zane Lange and Lorinda Pretorius. Josua Strumpfer, who was also selected for Sasol New Signatures, was awarded a Merit prize at the PPC Young Sculptors Competition 2010
