NMBM Continues With Electricity Day Light Robbery

5 July 2023 By Port Elizabethan

Dear Editor

No wonder the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality can afford its endless generosity when it comes to the enrichment and protection of its beloved CODESA PosterBoys [and Ladies]; meaning the ANC Anointees and/or South African White Capital Approved Individuals that are given golden handshakes willy-nilly and then, as in a typical Javelin case study, find themselves rehired for another cushy job by the very same municipality that was their prosecutor, defender, judge and jury.

That curently schizophrenic Convention for a Democratic South Africa [CODESA] directive or resolution, which must have been formulated circa 1993, created a scenario akin to a school of piranhas that are scavenging on a diminishing carcass that is the South African Economy, Well-being of its Citizenry & all round Political Stability. In a nutshell, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality is running this Metro like a typical cartel, a governing cartel that is, wherein funds from the downtrodden or struggling ratepayers are siphoned to feather the nests of the anointed political elite.

My overall gripe herein is the nonsensical lumping together of all Municipal Account Holders as a Unit that must pay its Rates & Electricity Accounts on the 25th or so of each month; with gluttonous penalties of + – R500 being charged even within 7 days of the due-by date. The automatic deduction of prepaid electricity units being the insult to injury after all the late penalty payments are done or not.

Residents of this metro don’t get paid on the same date, hence we will always be penalised for late payments. Whilst the municipality’s head honchos are experts in outsourcing services; yet the consultative handling of the Individual Account Payments’ service seems to be in the realm of rocket science in being difficult to administer.

A colleague of mine was spun a terrible yarn about being charged according to the respective professionals’ blanket salary dates that are residing in the Kwa-Magxaki vicinity he stays in, not as an individual that is not a teacher, nurse, porter or any of government’s 15th or 20th of each month’s Salary Earner.

The blanket charging, let alone penalising, of people who don’t get paid on the dictated and/or cast-in-stone 25th of each month cannot go unchallenged as all it takes to individualise the payment date of each account holder is the software upgrade of the municipal accounting system; without even outsourcing that service to the currently Satanic tender system that is making men out of mice through wanton murdering of each other with hand guns; because of unbridled treasonous greed that was apparently institutionalised during the CODESA Negotiations of 1993 or So.
