The management of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium have commended the Southern Kings for the fight they put up against the Lions on Friday night in spite of the Kings not being successful in their attempt to win the first of two Super 15 playoff games against the Lions.
Songezo Nayo, chairperson of Access Facilities and Leisure Management, operators of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium said; “We would like to assure the people of Nelson Mandela Bay that we are putting in place plans to ensure that the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium attracts major events next year. As stadium management we will continue to work tirelessly to make the stadium a success.”
Nayo said a comprehensive events calendar had already been initiated and reiterated that further events would be added to the programme, going forward.
“The Southern Kings have done us proud this season and as our anchor tenant have contributed towards our effort to make the stadium a success. We are still the home of rugby in the Eastern Cape and will continue exploring opportunities, across the sporting spectrum, to bring to the city. We look forward to what lies ahead over the next few years, and we wish to encourage the people of the city and the region to continue coming to the stadium and enjoying the various events which will be staged here.”
Editor’s Notes: A little gloomy guys, the fat lady is only supposed to sing on 3 August 2013 at Ellis Park!
