New MBDA Board anounced

19 September 2014 By Alan Straton

2014 MBDA Board
MBDA CEO Dr Pierre Voges, NMBM Portfolio councilor for Economic Development, Babalwa Lobishe, NMBM Deputy Executive Mayor, Chippa Ngcolomba and newly appointed MBDA Board Chairman, Motse Mfuleni.

On Friday 19 September 2014, the Deputy Executive Mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay, Chippa Ngcolomba formally announced the newly appointed Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) board. Councilor Ngcolomba thanked the outgoing board led by past Chairperson Saki Macozoma and his Deputy Philip Gutsche for selflessly giving of their time and energy guiding the MBDA to becoming what it is today – an award winning, credible and effective service delivery agent for Nelson Mandela Bay.

“We appreciate the effective oversight role played by the outgoing board, during their time; the agency has had nine consecutive unqualified audits and recently a clean audit for the 2012/13 financial year. Not so long ago, the MBDA board was awarded the best performing board of all municipal entities in the Eastern Cape by the Black Management Forum (BMF). The City will forever be grateful to these visionary leaders and we wish them well in their future endeavors” commented Ngcolomba.

“The new board, which effectively starts today, has big shoes to fill. We have no doubt they are up to the task. The new board has a great mix of professional skills, youth, experience and social activists with the goal to strengthen the MBDA to achieve even greater success. The City has big plans for the agency, including the expansion of its mandate beyond the inner city, but to cover the Nelson Mandela Bay region as a whole as well as the consolidation of entities” added Portfolio councilor for Economic Development, Babalwa Lobishe.

The process to appoint a new board began with an invitation to the public to nominate suitable candidates with relevant skills. The mayoral committee deliberated on the submissions received and made their choice which was then referred to the MBDA Annual General Meeting for ratification and endorsement.

“As the Mayoral committee of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality representing the hopes and wishes of our residents do not take lightly the sacrifice associated with the acceptance of this voluntary role that comes with a huge responsibility. The City eagerly awaits the positive impact and economic growth that should result as a legacy of the new board through its strategic guidance of the MBDA. We wish the board well and good success” concluded Lobishe.

The new board of directors who will serve a term of no more than three years are:

  1. Adv. Luvuyo Bono
  2. Baphelele Mhlaba
  3. Darryl A Dennis
  4. Donovan Nadison
  5. Chantal du Pisani
  6. Melikhaya Lucky Gosani
  7. Monde Ngonyama
  8. Samkelo Dlulane
  9. Kenny Govender
  10. Motse Maxwell Mfuleni
  11. Mncedisi Griffiths Sitoto
  12. Nomalizo Mandaba
  13. Vuyo Zitumane
  14. Khulile Vuyisile Nzo
